The East Timorese-Tonga relations describe the interstate relationship between East Timor and Tonga .

history

Although East Timor is part of Asia , it also has ethnic groups that speak Papuan languages, which is why it also has relationships with the Pacific world. As an observer, East Timor took part in the third ACP Summit in July 2002 and, since August 2002, in the annual meetings of the heads of state and government of the Pacific Islands Forum . In 2016, the country joined the Pacific Islands Development Forum .

After the Severe Tropical Cyclone Ian on January 2, 2014, the East Timorese government supported the victims in Tonga with a grant of US $ 250,000. East Timor also provided financial aid to Tonga in 2009 after a natural disaster.

East Timor and Tonga established diplomatic relations on November 26, 2002.

The two states do not have diplomatic missions in the other state. Diplomatic contacts are made through the representations of both countries in Canberra, Australia .

For 2018, the East Timor Statistics Office does not indicate any trade relations between Tonga and East Timor.
