Osvaldo Padilla

Osvaldo Padilla (born August 5, 1942 in Sogod , Philippines ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman, retired archbishop diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

Osvaldo Padilla was ordained a priest on February 20, 1966 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular archbishop pro hac vice of Pia and apostolic nuncio in Panama on December 17, 1990 . The Pope personally donated his episcopal ordination on January 6 of the next year; Co- consecrators were Giovanni Battista Re , Substitute of the State Secretariat , and Justin Francis Rigali , Secretary of the College of Cardinals .

In 1994 he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Sri Lanka . On August 22, 1998, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Nigeria . On July 31, 2003, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Costa Rica . Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on April 12, 2008 as Apostolic Nuncio to Korea . On April 26 of the same year he was also appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Mongolia .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on September 15, 2017.
