Othmar Crusiz

Othmar Crusiz (born July 1, 1890 in Görz , coastal region; † August 21, 1966 in Laßnitzhöhe near Graz) was an Austrian civil servant. He last held the post of Graz State Office Director from March 1, 1950 to December 31, 1955 .

Life

He completed his Matura in 1909 at the St. Paul High School in Lavanttal . He took part in the First World War as a reserve officer and was awarded the Military Merit Cross III in 1918 as a first lieutenant in reserve of the field artillery regiment No. 6 . Class awarded with the war decorations and swords. He then decided to study law at the University of Graz (Karl Franzens University), which he completed with a doctorate. In 1941 he bought the Sonnenvilla in Laßnitzhöhe with his wife Elisabeth, a daughter of the Chief Medical Officer Eduard Miglitz . In 1919 he embarked on a civil service career in the state of Styria, in which he rose to the position of regional office director and state office president in Graz . He was also President of the Steiermärkische Sparkasse and from December 6, 1956 until his death President of the Styrian Red Cross. In 1955 he was awarded the Great Gold Medal of Honor of the Republic of Austria and on February 11, 1966, as a former lecturer, he was made an honorary senator at the Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz . He died on August 21, 1966 in Laßnitzhöhe, the Sonnenvilla remained in family ownership until it was sold to Roberta Knie and Judy Bounds Coleman .

Othmar Crusiz was born as the son of the Imperial and Royal Higher Official of the Main Customs Office in Trieste Eugen Crusiz (1851-1919) and Anna Edlen von Emperger (1855-1929). From Othmar Crusiz's marriage to Elisabeth "Else" Miglitz (1897–1976) the daughter Ilse emerged, who married the doctor Wilfried Kutschera.
