Othmer gold medal

The Othmer Gold Medal is an award from the Science History Institute (until 2017 Chemical Heritage Foundation ), the American Chemical Society (ACS), the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), the Chemists' Club and the US Section of the Société de Chimie Industrielle for contributions to the progress of chemistry in the broadest sense, for example as entrepreneurs, inventors, in education and research, public relations, legislation and philanthropy. It has been awarded annually since 1997 and is named after Donald Othmer , an industrial chemist and major promoter of chemistry in the USA. The medal will be awarded on Chemical Heritage Foundation Day (May 15).

The recipient can also designate an institution to receive the 26-volume Kirk-Othmer Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology co-edited by Othmer .
