Otros Aires , who describe themselves as an audiovisual, retro - avant-garde project influenced by mestizo music , is a Spanish - Argentine group that is assigned to the Electrotango . She became known in particular for the combination of samplings of classical recordings from the early days of Tango Argentino with modern styles and instruments.

history

Otros Aires was originally founded in 2003 by the musician and architect Miguel Di Genova ( vocals , guitar , sampling and videos ), Toni Cupedo ( bass ) and Josep Lluis Guart ( piano and keyboards ). The trio made their first appearance in December 2003 in Barcelona and from then on they began to make themselves known by performing in clubs in the Catalan capital.

In mid-2004 Di Genova returned to Argentina and recorded a first CD entitled Otros Aires with Hugo Satorre ( bandoneon ), Pablo Lasala (piano and keyboards) and Emmanuel Mayol ( drums and percussion ) . The CD was presented to the public on December 11, 2004, Carlos Gardel's birthday , in the Gardel Museum . With the help of sampling, she combined recordings from the early days of Tango Argentino by singers such as Carlos Gardel and orchestral directors such as Juan D'Arienzo with electronic sequences , rhythms , melodies and texts of the 21st century.

During the next two years the band had numerous appearances in Argentina and then toured Germany, the Netherlands, Turkey, Greece, Poland and Chile. After Satorre and Lasala had been replaced by Omar Massa on the bandoneon and Diego Ramos on the piano, the band recorded their second album dos with the new line-up .

In 2008 a live album was published under the title Vivo en Otros Aires . In 2009 a tour of the USA followed.

In 2010 another studio album was released under the title Tricota . Martín Bruhn had now replaced Manu Mayol on drums. The band is complemented by the Orquesta Típica Los Reyes del Tango .
