Otsego is a city in Wright County in the US state of Minnesota . It is located northwest of Minneapolis in the metropolitan area of the Twin Cities and has around 6400 inhabitants.
geography
Otsego is located on the Mississippi River , northwest of the confluence of the Crow River with the Mississippi. According to the United States Census Bureau, the area of the city is 13.6 square kilometers, of which 0.4 square kilometers is water.
history
According to the history of Otsego, it was Samuel Carrick who was the first white man to operate a trading post in what is now the city between 1850 and 1854. He mainly sold his wares to the passing Winnebago Indians. The first permanent settler in Wright County was John McDonald. He came to the region with David McPherson in the summer of 1852. In 1855, the Minnesota Government determined the area boundaries of the settlement and named the district Pleasant Grove Precinct . In 1858 a township was established and renamed Otsego Township . On November 15, 1990, Otsego was granted city rights.

According to the 2000 census, Otsego has 6,389 people in 2,062 households and 1,674 families. The population density is 84.0 inhabitants per km². Racially, the population is made up of 97 percent white population and smaller minorities.
