Ottenhausen ( Swiss German : Ottehuse) is a hamlet in the political municipality Seegräben (Swiss German: Seegrebe) in the Swiss canton of Zurich .
geography
The hamlet is located in the Zurich Oberland , on a moraine above the Pfäffikersee . The villages of Wetzikon , Pfäffikon and Uster are in the neighborhood.
history
The agricultural settlement was already inhabited in Roman times ( manor ). Extensive parts of the wall of the building in the forest near Ottenhausen were still visible in the 16th century.
With the new cantonal constitution of 1832, school attendance was made compulsory. The village of Seegräben then founded a school cooperative with Ottenhausen. Until 1874 Ottenhausen belonged to the political municipality of Pfäffikon ZH .
The inhabitants of the hamlet are mostly active in agriculture and forestry. Gravel has also been mined since 2007 .
