Otto Andersen (architect)

Otto Andersen (born December 12, 1924 in Hamburg-Bergedorf ; † July 5, 1981 in Hamburg ) was a German architect . He designed numerous churches in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein in the 1950s and 1960s . They are among the region's most important works in post-war church building .

Life

Otto Andersen attended the Hamburg Building School from 1944 to 1945 and studied at the Technical University of Stuttgart from 1946 to 1951 . Then he worked in the architecture office of his father-in-law Behrmann in Hamburg-Blankenese and achieved his first successes in competitions in urban planning and church building . From 1954 to 1973 he worked as a freelancer from Meldorf in these areas as well as in the preservation of monuments and in private housing. He also designed some organ prospectuses , such as that of the Pinneberger Heilig-Geist-Kirche. From 1971 to 1973 he traveled several times to Morocco and Iran and opened his own office as a design architect in Agadir in 1976/1977 .
