Otto Antonia Graf

Otto Antonia Graf (March 1937 - February 23, 2020 ) was an Austrian art historian .

Life

Graf studied at the University of Vienna from 1962 and wrote his dissertation on Otto Wagner in 1982 . From 1964 to 1970 he worked as an assistant at the Museum of the 20th Century Vienna and wrote texts for the exhibitions there, including about Pop Art , Herbert Boeckl , Jean Dubuffet , Henry Moore , Mark Toby and Emil Nolde . From 1971 to 2005 he taught at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna , on Schillerplatz.

The long-standing director of the Institute for Art History at the Academy of Fine Arts emerged primarily through research and publications on the work of the architect Otto Wagner. He was also interested in the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright and fundamental questions that he addressed with a basic work published in 1990 that offers an overview of the structures and transformations in architecture.

Graf was editor of the seven-volume Otto Wagner edition, which was published by Böhlau-Verlag.
