Otto Bertermann (born February 10, 1946 in Warburg ) is a German medic and politician ( FDP , FW ).

Career

Bertermann attended the Goetheschule in Kassel from 1957 and passed his Abitur in 1966. From 1966 to 1975 he studied psychology and medicine in Freiburg, since 1971 he has been a certified psychologist. After a short stay at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg, he trained as a specialist in surgery at the University of Heidelberg from 1978 to 1981 further. From 1981 to 1983 he spent at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (New York). After returning to Germany, he worked at the Munich Klinikum rechts der Isar from 1983 to 1986 . He has been running a doctor's practice in Munich since 1990.

His political career began in 2000 when he joined the FDP. He was initially a member of the board of the Munich East District Association and the Munich City Association. He was later elected to the state executive committee. He was health policy spokesman for the FDP Bavaria, a member of the Federal Health Committee and health expert of the FDP parliamentary group.

In the state elections in 2008 , he entered the Bavarian state parliament for the first time at number 2 in the constituency of Upper Bavaria . There he took over the deputy group chairmanship and was a member of the Committee on Environment and Health. Bertermann also moved into the Munich city council as a successor after the 2009 European elections .

On February 20, 2013, he moved from the FDP to the Free Voters. He criticized the attitude of the federal FDP, as a doctor he could not support the position of the liberals in the federal government on pre-implantation diagnostics and passive euthanasia. Since 2015 he has been chairman of the Federal Expert Committee on Health FW. Bertermann is a member of the Hartmannbund and the Bavarian General Practitioner Association.

In the state elections on September 15, 2013 , he fell from 12th to 25th place on the list of free voters and thus missed re-entry into the state parliament.

From November 2017 to November 2019 Bertermann was deputy chairman of the Federal Association of Free Voters .
