Otto Biba

Otto Biba (born August 9, 1946 in Vienna ) is an Austrian musicologist and archive director of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Vienna .

career

Biba worked since 1973 - after studying history and musicology (doctorate University of Vienna 1974) - in the archive, library and collections of the society. In 1979 he succeeded Hedwig Mitringer as director. Since then he has been active as a scientific author, editor of musical works, exhibition curator and lecturer in Vienna and internationally. As a researcher, he was particularly concerned with Joseph Haydn , Franz Schubert and Johannes Brahms , but also with the Piarist Order or with Gottfried von One . Biba has presented over 120 editions of compositions.
