Otto Bredl
Otto Bredl (born November 29, 1928 in Munich , † July 1985 in Cologne ) was a German jazz and entertainment musician . According to Jürgen Wölfer , he is considered "the most brilliant German trombonist of the post-war period."
Bredl, who first learned the bassoon , studied at the Munich Music Academy. After 1945 he played the trombone in US Army clubs and was soon a member of Joe Wick's orchestra . Between 1949 and 1956 he was a member of Kurt Edelhagen's orchestra , with whom he was active for radio in Nuremberg and Baden-Baden. In 1956 he was also a member of the German All Stars. Then he switched to the SWF dance orchestra, which was formed in 1957 under Eddie Sauter , in which he remained until 1958. Then he returned to Edelhagen (now in Cologne) as sentence leader. After Edelhagen's death, he worked as a studio musician with James Last , Triumvirate and Herbert Grönemeyer ( two ).
