Otto Eisenburger (born August 25, 1908 in Bistritz , Transylvania , † June 24, 1989 in Bad Kissingen , Lower Franconia ) was a German Kapellmeister , general music director and cantor .

Life

Otto Eisenburger was born as one of twelve children of the Bistritz gymnastics teacher Josef Eisenburger , who must also have been musically gifted. So he wrote the play "Homecoming" for the amateur play in Herten - Langenbochum .

Eisenburger worked for a short time as music director of the Schäßburger Musikverein and the music club "Hermania". After 1940 he was opera conductor and general music director in several cities in Germany, a. a. in Magdeburg , Dresden and Weimar , as well as in Austria . So on May 11, 1941, he reported with birthday greetings to the well-known composer and music teacher Joseph Marx (1882–1964) from Leoben in Styria , whom he asked for his support for a post at the Graz Opera on February 2, 1949 ; Marx was born in Graz.

It is uncertain whether he actually got this post, since he contacted Marx on November 4, 1953 from Klagenfurt and only on May 20, 1954 from Graz with a request for a letter of recommendation for a post in Cape Town ( Republic of South Africa ). This plan will not have worked, because on December 11, 1956, Eisenburger reported from Lübeck . Again he asked Marx for his recommendation for a new post, this time as music director in Bonn .

He accepted his last post in 1961: until 1975 he was permanently employed at the Evangelical Church of the Redeemer in Bad Kissingen. He worked in the spa town as a conductor, cantor (with A-examination) and as general music director. Eventually he became city and district cantor.
