Otto Erzer

Otto Erzer (born September 11, 1860 in Dornach ; † January 30, 1941 in Basel , Catholic , legal resident in Dornach, Seewen and Basel) was a Swiss entrepreneur .

Life

Otto Erzer was born on September 11, 1860 in Dornach as the son of the bank clerk and Cantonal Councilor Johann Erzer and Sophia Maria, born Studer. He first completed a degree at the Zurich Polytechnic . He then took on managerial positions in Austrian , French and Belgian paper mills .

In 1913 Otto Erzer founded the Zwingen paper factory , which he managed until 1921. With the purchase of the Birskraftwerke Dittingen and Zwingen , the company started to flourish after the First World War . This was the most important employer in Zwingen until the crisis in the 1990s. Currently, it has shifted to the recycling of waste paper to a lesser extent . In 1928 Otto Erzer founded the paper mill Kunz Erzer & Co. , based in Laufen , together with the publishers Conzett & Huber and Birkhäuser , until 1972.

Otto Erzer, who married Josefine Bertha Furrer, born in 1884, died on January 30, 1941 at the age of 80 in Basel .
