Otto Fraydt from Fraydenegg and Monzello

Otto Maria Freiherr Fraydt von Fraydenegg and Monzello (born June 21, 1851 in Graz ; † June 26, 1939 at Nechelheim Castle ( Sankt Lorenzen im Mürzal ); until 1903 Otto Ritter von Fraydenegg and Monzello ) was an Austrian civil servant and politician. From 1897 to 1903 he was President of the Province of Carinthia ; From 1905 to 1919 he was a member of the Styrian state parliament . Between 1932 and 1938 he was President of the Board of Trustees of the Landesmuseum Joanneum in Graz.

Life

Fraydenegg studied law at the University of Graz and then entered the civil service. In 1878 he took part in the Bosnian campaign as a first lieutenant. After several positions in the provincial administrations of Styria and Vienna as well as an activity as head of the presidential office in the Imperial and Royal Ministry of the Interior under Minister Olivier Marquis de Bacquehem , he was appointed provincial president of Carinthia in 1897. He exercised this function until he was retired in 1903 and at the same time raised to the baron class .

From 1905 to 1919 he was a member of the Styrian Landtag, where he belonged to the Club of Constitutionally Loyal Landowners. From 1905 Fraydenegg was a member of the board of trustees of the Landesmuseum Joanneum, whose president he later became; from 1907 until his death he was a member of the Historical State Commission for Styria . From 1906 to 1919 he was President of the Historisches Verein für Steiermark .

From 1903 he lived on his estate Nechelheim in Sankt Lorenzen in the Mürz valley .
