Otto Heiss (born February 19, 1939 in Untermässing ) is a German local politician and association official.

biography

Otto Heiß was born on a Shrove Sunday with a twin sister as the son of a tailor and a midwife . After the sixth grade, he moved from the Untermässing village school to the Hilpoltstein secondary school. After a year he switched to the German Gymnasium in Eichstätt, now called Gabrieli Gymnasium , and graduated from high school there in 1960. He then studied at the University of Education for secondary school teaching and was then employed at 13 schools in West Central Franconia. Then he came to the secondary school in Greding as a teacher. In 1966 he married his wife Rosa, first civilly in Erkertshofen and ecclesiastically in Mettendorf and had a daughter and a son with her, the cathedral music director Christian Heiss .

Political

He became politically active for the first time in 1976 when the Gredingen hospital was to be closed. In 1978 he was elected to succeed Albert Lux as the first full-time mayor of the city of Greding with around 80 percent. During his tenure, the museum and the city and parish library were founded, as well as the Gredingen traditional costume market , Advent singing and the old town festival. After the end of his term of office in 1996, he was awarded the honorary title of former mayor and the city gold medal. From 1984 to 1988 he was chairman of the Jura-Schwarzach-Thalach Group water association. Was a member of Roth's district council for 30 years . Thereof twelve years chairman of the CSU parliamentary group in the Roth district assembly and thus successor to Leo Benz . He was deputy chairman of the Altmühltal nature park , which is the fourth largest in Germany. From 2002 he was deputy district administrator of Roth for six years. Since the fire brigade, elementary school and TSV supported the community of Großenstein in Thuringia after the fall of the Wall , he became an honorary citizen there in 1996 . In 2009 he was awarded the district merit medal and in 2013 he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Greding.

Others

For 37 years he led the church choir Greding and the Gredinger choir community. From 1998 to 2014 he was district chairman of the social association VdK Germany in the district of Roth and then became honorary chairman. In addition, in his retirement he acquired knowledge of the landmarks in the area and passed it on to many lecturers. He is also the author of the local history forays of the district of Roth.
