Otto Heuer (chemist)

Otto Karl Hermann Heuer (born July 8, 1877 in Hecklingen ; † 1960 ) was a German chemist and industrialist in the cement industry .

Life

After attending high school, he practically worked in brickworks and cement factories. Then he started studying chemistry and mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig . During his studies he became a member of the Thuringia Braunschweig fraternity in 1898/99 .

From 1902 to 1905 he worked as a chemist and works manager at the Württemberg Portland cement works in Lauffen am Neckar . He then became director of the Dornburg-Steudnitzer Kalkwerke Dr. M. Frenztel from 1906 to 1909.

In 1910 he became director and general manager of Portland-Cement- und Kalkwerke AG Schimischow in Upper Silesia , which he held until 1926. He accompanied the merger of the plants in Schimischow with the cement plants in Neukirch an der Katzbach, Giesel and Frauendorf in Silesia .

In business, he was active in the purchase of shares in the cement works Groß-Strehlitz and Groschowitz von Grundmann in the city of Opole , with which he became the founder of the Silesian cement company.

When he acquired Schütte AG for the clay industry in Minden , he switched to the heavy ceramics sector. At the end of the twenties, Schütte AG produced 50 million clinker bricks and roof tiles per year. The AG included plants in Heisterholz ( Petershagen ), Holtrup and in Dehme ( Bad Oeynhausen ) at Mindener Str. 10.

At the end of 1929 he became CEO of the Portland-Cementwerke Heidelberg-Mannheim. From March 1934 he was chairman of the German Cement Association in Heidelberg .

He held other offices as an honorary senator of the TH Braunschweig, as a member of the supervisory board of Excelsior Lebensversicherungs AG in Berlin and the Schlesische Portland-Cement-Industrie AG .

This year belonged to the NSDAP since May 1, 1933 . He belonged to the " Friends of the Reichsführer SS ".
