Otto II (Swabia)
Otto II. († 1047 ), from the Ezzonen family , was the son of Count Palatine Ezzo of Lorraine and Mathilde of Saxony , thus a grandson of Emperor Otto II.
After the death of his father (1034) he succeeded him as Count Palatine of Lorraine in 1035 .
After the death of Duke Hermann IV (1038), the Duchy of Swabia was directly taken over by King Heinrich III. managed. It was not until 1045 ( Goslar , April 7th) that he appointed Otto, a new Duke of Swabia and at the same time gave the office of the Palatinate Count of Lorraine to Otto's cousin Heinrich I († 1061). Otto died in 1047. He was buried in Brauweiler by Bishop Bruno von Toul , who in 1049 became Pope Leo IX. rise.
Otto II was regarded as the father of Richenza von Schwaben , who was married to Count Hermann von Werl in her first marriage and to Count Otto von Northeim in her second marriage , from 1061 as Otto II Duke of Bavaria . The relationship is now considered dubious.
After the death of Otto II, Heinrich III. the office with Otto von Schweinfurt from the Franconian branch of the Babenbergs .
