Otto Kronsteiner

Otto Kronsteiner (born December 7, 1938 in Losenstein , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian Slavist , linguist , name researcher and historian .

Life

After graduating from the Humanistic Benedictine High School in Seckau / Styria, he studied law , Romance studies , Eastern European history and Slavic studies at the universities of Vienna , Warsaw , Krakow , Agram (Zagreb) and Ljubljana (Ljubljana) . He obtained his doctorate at the University of Vienna on Slavic Studies and Eastern European History. He completed his habilitation in Slavic Studies in Klagenfurt and became an associate professor in Vienna. From 1981 he was full professor in Salzburg for Slavic Studies and Slavic Intellectual History. From 1982 to 2007, Kronsteiner shaped the Institute for Slavic Studies as a researcher and teacher and was head of the institute several times. His retirement took place in 2007.
