Otto kiss

Otto Kuss (born January 6, 1905 in Lauban , † February 7, 1991 in Gütersloh ) was a Catholic theologian and professor of New Testament exegesis at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich .

biography

Kuss studied philology and theology in Breslau , Bonn and Berlin between 1924 and 1931 . With a treatise on the Adam-Christ parallel , he received his doctorate in 1930 under Friedrich Wilhelm Maier . The following year he was ordained a priest in Breslau and initially worked as a pastor in Liegnitz . During the Third Reich he was a vicar at the Breslau Cathedral . His habilitation was prevented because of his very clear resistance to the National Socialist rulers.

After the end of the war, Kuss settled down as a curate in Donaustauf . In 1946 he followed a call from the Philosophical-Theological University of Regensburg as a professor of patrology . In 1948 he moved to the Archbishop's Philosophical-Theological Academy in Paderborn as a full professor . Finally, in 1960, Kuss was appointed to the chair for New Testament Exegesis and Biblical Hermeneutics at the University of Munich .

On April 1, 1973, Kuss retired.
