Otto Lagerfeld
Otto Christian Ludwig Lagerfeld (born September 20, 1881 in Hamburg , † July 4, 1967 in Baden-Baden ) was a German entrepreneur.
Professional
Lagerfeld, son of the wine merchant Tönnies Johann Otto Lagerfeld (* 1845, † June 22, 1931), trained in a coffee company. An American company sent him to Vladivostok in 1907 , where he set up a canned milk business for them . After internment in Siberia during the First World War , Otto Lagerfeld returned to Hamburg.
In 1919 he founded the company Lagerfeld & Co for Import of Carnation condensed milk from the United States. In 1923 he introduced his own brand under the name " Glücksklee ".
Until his departure in 1957, Lagerfeld managed the rise of Glücksklee Milchgesellschaft mbH, which was considered the leading German manufacturer of canned milk, as managing director .
Private
Lagerfeld's first marriage to Theresia, geb. Feigl (1896–1922), married. A daughter comes from this marriage. After the death of his first wife, he married Elisabeth, b. Bahlmann (1897–1978), a daughter of Karl Bahlmann . The second marriage resulted in a daughter and the fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld . After retiring, he moved to Baden-Baden with his wife.
