Otto Mitius

Otto Mitius (born November 19, 1865 in Nauendorf , † December 22, 1926 in Erlangen ) was a German art historian and librarian .

Life

Mitius studied theology, early Christian and classical archeology as well as art history in Leipzig , Tübingen , Halle / Saale and Greifswald . In 1892 he passed his first state examination in theology, and in 1895 he received his doctorate in Strasbourg . In the same year he became an intern at the Bamberg State Library and then a volunteer at the Erlangen University Library . There he made it to the position of senior librarian in 1924 in his 30-year career. He wrote a history of the Erlangen university library, writings on book history and on Albrecht Dürer .
