Otto Morach (born August 2, 1887 in Hubersdorf , Canton Solothurn , † December 25, 1973 in Zurich ) was a Swiss painter.

Live and act

Otto Morach completed his Matura in 1908 and then studied secondary teachers at the University of Bern. In addition to studying, Morach attended the Bern School of Applied Arts . There he made friends with Arnold Brügger . In 1909 he traveled to Paris and became a painter. In 1910 he taught in Zug . At the age of 20 he came to color through Cuno Amiet . In the winter of 1912/1913 he worked in the « La Ruche » studio in Paris. 1911–1914 Morach studied at various academies and painting schools a. a. in Munich, Dresden, Berlin and Prague. Before, during and after the First World War, he met with Arnold Brügger again and again in Germany, Paris and Switzerland and dealt with the great movements of Expressionism, Cubism and Constructivism. During his active service from 1914 to 1918, Morat also worked as a teacher in Solothurn.

He worked as a teacher at the Zurich School of Applied Arts from 1919–1953. In 1930 he was a teacher in the applied painting class. Study trips to Berlin, Paris and Marseille follow. His works can be seen in the Kunstmuseum Thun and the Kunstmuseum Solothurn, among others.
