Otto Schleimer

Otto Schleimer (born March 15, 1876 in Letmathe , † March 15, 1957 in Schwerte ) was a German graduate engineer and smelter.

Life

After graduating from secondary school in Iserlohn and working for a longer period of time in the companies of " Westfälische Stahlwerke AG, Bochum ", he studied at the Technical University of Berlin-Charlottenburg , where after seven semesters he took his diploma in metallurgy. He then held the position of production engineer at the Siemens-Martin steelworks of Westfälische Stahlwerke AG Schleimer then worked abroad for a long time as a deputy director at the iron and wire industry in Krakow in the construction of an SM steelworks with associated wire and bar steel lines. After several years as head of steel and rolling mills at the " Düsseldorfer Eisen- und Drahtindustrie, Düsseldorf", he built and managed the company Dr. Kurt Albert established a steelworks with an attached dezincification plant for galvanized scrap iron to recover the iron as steel and the zinc as color. During the First World War he took over the construction and management of a steel works for the production of steel grenades .

On February 17, 1920 Otto Schleimer joined the company "Eisenindustrie zu Menden und Schwerte AG" as a board member. After the company had become part of the United Steel Works in 1926, Schleimer prevented the planned closure and ensured that the plant developed into a manufacturer of rolled and drawn special steel profiles. After the National Socialists came to power , he joined the NSDAP in March 1933 . He headed the plant as Chairman of the Board of Management until September 30, 1944. Originally Schleimer was supposed to switch to the company's Supervisory Board immediately. Since there were no more board meetings before the end of the war and the old board was dismissed by the Allies at the end of 1945 , the election could only take place on May 13, 1949. He remained a member of this body until his death on March 15, 1957.

Otto Schleimer was awarded the War Merit Cross in World War I and World War II .
