Otto Wagner (born November 19, 1882 in Wagstadt (Bílovec) , Silesia , † October 1, 1958 in Graz ) was an Austrian politician of the Greater German People's Party (GdP).

education and profession

Born as the son of a farmer, Wagner attended high schools in Saaz and Brüx and became a laborer in the Wahlis porcelain factory in Turn near Teplitz . He studied medicine in Prague and then law in Vienna . During his studies he became a member of the Arminia Vienna fraternity in 1900 - later, in 1951, he became a member of the Libertas fraternity in Vienna and in 1955 of the Marcho-Teutonia Graz fraternity . In 1908 he worked for some time as a civil servant at the Austrian Railways Accident Insurance in Vienna. In 1916 he was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD . He ended the First World War in Italian captivity after having served in the Rifle Regiment No. 6 from 1916 to 1918 , most recently as a Landsturm lieutenant. After his return he worked again as an inspector of the accident insurance of the Austrian railways, whose director he became in 1938. He became a member of the NSDAP , which is why he was dismissed after the Second World War and forced to retire as a central inspector in 1947. After working as a private employee in Graz for some time, he became managing director of the Styrian regional association of agricultural and forestry employers, including the Austrian Federal Forests, in 1948.
