Otto Walpert

Otto Walpert (born March 11, 1909 in Eickel or in Wanne , † March 11, 1979 in Münster ) was a German politician ( SPD ). In the third legislative period until his resignation on January 12, 1960, he was a member of the German Bundestag.

Life

Walpert attended business school and then completed a commercial apprenticeship. In 1929 and 1930 he was employed by the tax office in Wanne-Eickel. After he had been a member of the trade union federation since 1927, he was also active in the youth and young employee movement. In 1931 he joined the SPD. In the following years he worked as an accounting officer at the German salaried health insurance company in Wanne-Eickel and from 1935 at the Techniker's occupational health insurance company (today: Techniker Krankenkasse ). After the war he became a pension clerk in the Rhineland State Insurance Institution in 1950.

politics

Walpert was hired full-time by the trade union federation in 1951. He was chairman of the Bielefeld district committee at the German Trade Union Federation and was a member of the board of directors from 1953 to 1959. In the federal election in 1957 , Walpert was elected to the German Bundestag through a direct mandate in constituency 106 (Bielefeld city) . Until his resignation on January 12, 1960, he was a full member of the Social Policy Committee and a deputy member of the Economic and Foreign Trade Committee. His successor in the Bundestag was Hubert Jungherz . From 1959 he was also alternating chairman of the board of the Bielefeld district committee at the German Trade Union Confederation and from 1959 to 1975 he was full-time managing director of the State Insurance Institution of Westphalia.
