Otto Wilhelm von und zu Tümpling (* 1660 , Altenburg Castle , Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg ; † June 28, 1730 , Karlsbad , Bohemia , Habsburg Monarchy ) was the Saxon-Merseburg court marshal , chamberlain of the Electorate of Saxony and director of Zeitz .

Life

Otto Wilhelm was a son of Philipp Heinrich von Tümpling, Saxon-Merseburg court marshal, and Sybille Justina von Sack. In 1689 he entered the service of Duke Johann Georg II of Saxony-Eisenach as a treasurer . In 1694 he was appointed governor of Borna by the new Elector August the Strong . In 1697 August appointed him to the electoral chamber councilorand house marshal for Merseburg, then also court marshal there in 1698. Otto Wilhelm von Tümpling thus had the second highest office in the Duchy of Merseburg after the Chancellor. He was responsible for the court keeping, the building trade, the works and the supervision of the largest part of the income. During this time, the Duchy of Merseburg was led by the dowager Erdmute Dorothea , who took on the upbringing of the young Moritz Wilhelm and who faced Tümpling with deep hostility over the entire time in his office. In 1712, the duke, who had come of age, dismissed the court marshal soon after taking office.

In 1718 August the Strong made Tümpling Chamberlain of Electoral Saxony and in 1718 Chamber Director of Zeitz Monastery, which had recently fallen to Electoral Saxony. In 1724 he was also chief tax collector in the Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg.

von Tümpling was married to Emilie Eleonore Countess von Allstädt (1674–1709) since 1692. She was a daughter of Duke Bernhard von Sachsen-Jena in a second marriage to Marie Elisabeth von Kospoth. They had 2 daughters and 4 sons.

Possessions were Tümpling (1687-1730, partially), Schieben near Naumburg (1693-1713), Heiligenkreuz near Naumburg (1720-1730), Kückebusch ( Kyckpusch ), Niederlausitz (1725-1730) and Vetschau , Niederlausitz (1712-1715).
