Life

Otto Wollank was the eldest son of the Pankow landowner and local politician Friedrich Adolph Wollank (1833–1877), after whom Wollankstrasse in Berlin-Pankow was named. ( Location )

Otto Wollank studied at the Agricultural University in Berlin from 1881 . After completing his military service as a one-year volunteer , he took over the real estate business of his father, who died young. In the spring of 1890 he purchased for 900,000 marks the 1000 hectares large manor Greater Glienicke by Johann Heinrich Berger landing Feldt (* 1841). Wollank managed the estate according to new agricultural methods, so that it was soon referred to as an "agricultural model estate". Wollank soon became known to a larger circle in the greater Berlin area because he had various social institutions such as a school and a kindergarten built and operated on his estate.

In August 1913, at his request, Wollank was ennobled for his exemplary social achievements .

After the death of his younger brother Adolf Wollank (1866–1915) Otto Wollank inherited Dammsmühle Castle from him, which he sold in 1919.

As a result of economic difficulties, Wollank leased considerable parts of his property in Groß Glienicke to wealthy Berlin citizens from 1926, some of whom built weekend houses on it.

Otto Wollank was first married to Katharina Anne Marie von Brietzke (1871-1916) from 1894 . The marriage resulted in three daughters and one son. In his second marriage, he was married to Dorothea Else Müller (1881–1929) from 1916 , and he was fatally injured with her on September 24, 1929 in a spectacular car accident in Berlin.
