Karl Otto Schüßler , von Schüßler since 1884 (born May 22, 1825 in Groß Salze , † November 6, 1899 in Wiesbaden ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Otto was the son of the landowner Karl Schüßler († 1862) and his wife Wilhelmine, née Angern († 1877).

Military career

Schuessler embarked on a career as an artillery officer. During this period he was from June 9, 1874 to July 23, 1879, commander of the Thuringian Field Artillery Regiment No. 19 in Erfurt . He was then transferred to Koblenz as commander of the 8th Field Artillery Brigade, and in this capacity he advanced to major general on August 3, 1883. In approval of his leave request Schuessler was on 11 December 1884, the statutory pension for disposition made and Emperor I. Wilhelm into the hereditary Prussian nobility raised .

Schüßler married on April 23, 1854 with Olga Freiin von Strombeck (1834-1890). The marriage resulted in three children who died early, as well as the daughter Helene (1858-1929), who married the later Prussian Major General Franz von Issendorff (1851-1908), and the son Georg (1861-1927). He too embarked on a military career in the Prussian army, made it to lieutenant general and was awarded the Pour le Mérite order during the First World War .
