content

Outcasts is set in 2060 on the fictional planet Carpathia, an inhabitable planet five years from Earth. Carpathia has been colonized by a number of spaceships fleeing the destruction and nuclear conflict on Earth. Most of the world's population lives within the confines of the pioneering town of Forthaven, which was first settled ten years before the series began. The inhabitants live in ignorance of the fate of the earth and receive messages only from the few evacuated transport ships that successfully pass the difficult atmospheric entrance to Carpathia. Carpathia was named by the colonists in honor of the RMS Carpathia, a ship that came to rescue survivors of the historic RMS Titanic disaster. The story centers on the President of Carpathia, Richard Tate, and the core members of the Protection and Security Team (PAS) and Expeditions (XPs), whose job it is to explore the planet on foot and obtain resources and medicines. With the arrival of CT-9, perhaps the last transporter to reach Carpathia from Earth, stories revolve around the lives of existing settlers, the bringing in of new evacuees into the Forthaven community, and the impact of others outside the walls of Forthaven.
