Daniel Mays

Daniel Alan Mays (born March 31, 1978 in Epping , Essex ) is a British actor .

life and career

Daniel Mays was born in 1978 in Epping, the third of four sons of an electrician and a bank clerk. He grew up in Buckhurst Hill, also in Essex . He attended the Italia Conti Academy of Theater Arts. He later trained as an actor at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London , which he graduated in 2000.

Daniel Mays then appeared in numerous supporting roles in film and television. He made his cinema debut in 2001 as a pilot in the Hollywood drama Pearl Harbor . His portrayal of the heroin addict Adam in the BBC television film Rehab earned him an award for Best Actor at the Palmare-Reims Television Festival in 2003 . His role in the independent film Shifty earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the 2008 British Independent Film Awards .

The unmarried Daniel Mays has one son and lives in Crouch End in north London. In his spare time he is an avid Leyton Orient football fan .
