Line of Duty ( English for "In the exercise of duty"; Swiss title: Line of Duty - Cops under suspicion ) is a British crime series broadcast since 2012 about the AC-12 unit , which conducts its investigations within the British police. The idea for the series comes from Jed Mercurio ( Bodyguard ). Martin Compston , Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar have starred since the beginning.

The German-language first broadcast has been broadcast by the station 13th Street since November 7, 2014. On March 31, 2019 the BBC started the fifth season. In May 2017, the BBC commissioned a sixth season and announced the broadcast for the end of 2020.

Production and broadcast

The first season of the series, consisting of five episodes, was seen from June 26 to July 24, 2012 on BBC Two . Two days after the season finale was broadcast, a second season was extended, which was broadcast from February 12 to March 19, 2014. Jessica Raine was newly signed for this . At the same time, it was announced that Vicky McClure , Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar would be returning for the second season. Despite the rather average ratings, but because of the great critical praise, the series was extended by two more seasons in April 2014.

In Germany, the first two seasons of the series were broadcast in double episodes on November 7, 2014 on 13th Street . The ZDF showed both seasons from April 2015 and repeated it then ZDFneo . The third season was shown by ZDF from December 8, 2016 to January 12, 2017 in its German premiere. The fourth and fifth season ran from November 16, 2019 to December 21, 2019 on ZDF.
