Vicky Lee McClure (born May 8, 1983 in Nottingham , Nottinghamshire ) is a British actress who became known for her work with the director Shane Meadows . She played the sister of the title heroine in the film A Room for Romeo Brass (1999) and received more attention from the film This Is England (2006), in which she played the role of Lol .

Career

In an April 2007 interview with Time Out magazine, Vicky McClure said Meadows spotted her for the role while she was in a pub with Andrew Shim. She described the work as wonderful: “We were heavily involved in the film, which was fantastic. We were even there when Shane edited the film - we saw so many different versions of the film. " Many scenes from this film are improvised: " Well, everything is improvised. If we were all laughing half dead, Shane would say, 'yeah well infect each other with your laughter,' and then someone would start a conversation with a funny comment and we would all laugh of course because it was just funny. Often it only worked for the first take. ” When asked what it was like to work with Meadows in contrast to other directors, she said, “ I haven't had a lot of experience with other directors because I haven't made too many films but I have the feeling that if I continue to work in this industry and with other people, I will no longer be able to enjoy this luxury. ” She drew parallels with her characters and the similarity to her own person: “ I think Ladine and Lol are pretty similar in one point, they both stay out of all the shit that is coming their way to some extent. The three of us are alike in so many different ways ... I think Shane sees some of the characters in me, which of course helps. But I'm always nice, really! "

In 2008 she starred in the film Filth and Wisdom, directed by Madonna . The film premiered on February 13, 2008 at the Berlinale .

She has been known to a wider television audience since 2012 through the impersonation of Kate Fleming in the BBC Two series Line of Duty .
