Lennie James (born October 11, 1965 in London , England ) is a British actor and screenwriter .

Life

Private life

When Lennie James was twelve years old, his Trinidadian mother, Phyllis Mary James, died. He and his older brother were then taken to a children's home, from which he moved to a social worker when he was 16. He has been with Giselle Glasman for years and has three children with her.

Career

Lennie James originally wanted to be a rugby player, but he only got into acting by accident when he accompanied a friend to an audition. Because of his great talent, he attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and graduated in 1988. After that, he played theater and began writing screenplays in 1990. His drama Storm Damage was broadcast on the BBC in 2000 and won the Royal Television Society Award in 2001.

His major actor films include Lost in Space (1998), Les Misérables (1998), Snatch - Pigs and Diamonds (2000), 24 Hour Party People (2002) and Sahara Desert Adventure (2005), in which he starred alongside Matthew McConaughey and Penélope Cruz . He also played the role of the mysterious Robert Hawkins in the apocalyptic CBS television series Jericho - The Attack . In 2010, as well as in three episodes in 2013 and 2014, he played a supporting supporting role and since 2015 a leading role in The Walking Dead as Morgan Jones.
