Oxadixyl is a chemical compound from the group of phenylamides and a systemic fungicide introduced by Sandoz (now Syngenta ) in 1982 .

Extraction and presentation

Oxadixyl can be obtained from 2,6-dimethylphenylhydrazine and 2-chloroethyl chloroformate . The product reacts with 2-methoxyacetyl chloride . The end product is created through ring closure .

use

Oxadixyl is used as a protective and curative fungicide against Oomycetes in a wide variety of crops (wine, potatoes, tobacco, hops, sunflowers, citrus, fruit and vegetables).

In order to delay the development of resistance, Oxadixyl was usually used mixed with another fungicide.

Admission

Oxadixyl was approved in the FRG from 1986 to 1996.

No plant protection products containing this active ingredient are permitted in the EU or Switzerland .
