Pär Bengtsson (born July 21, 1922 in Halmstad , † October 23, 2007 ) was a Swedish football player . The offensive player played in Sweden, Italy and France throughout his career.

Career

Bengtsson started playing football in his hometown at Halmstads BK . With the club he rose to the Allsvenskan in 1942 . There he established himself in the following years as a regular on the offensive of the club and contributed to the club's relegation in the 1944/45 season with nine goals this season. In the season 1945/46 he got with the team only three wins this season, so that the club had to relegate as bottom of the table together with Jönköpings Södra IF . Therefore, after 66 first division games, in which he scored 18 goals for HBK, he moved within the league to IF Elfsborg . With the club from Borås he finished fourth in the table in his debut season, before he slipped into relegation battle with his new club the following year. He was noticed positively and after successful relegation he was part of the Swedish national team for the 1948 Summer Olympics in the summer of 1948 without any international playing experience . In the course of the tournament he remained in the selection of Gunnar Gren , Nils Liedholm , Gunnar Nordahl , Torsten Lindberg and Henry Carlsson without a stake and thus made a moral contribution to winning the gold medal.

In the summer of 1949 Bengtsson, like many of his compatriots, followed the call of money and switched to southern Europe as a professional footballer. The first stop of the offensive player was the Italian club AC Turin , which put together a new team after the Superga plane crash . At the side of Benjamín Santos and Luigi Giuliano , he formed the offensive of the newly formed team and contributed with ten goals of the season to reach sixth place.

After a year in Italy, Bengtsson moved to France and joined OGC Nice in Division 1 . There he won his first title at the side of his compatriots Lennart Samuelsson and Åke Hjalmarsson at the end of the 1950/51 season under coach Numa Andoire , when the French championship was won before the tied OSC Lille due to the better goal difference . In the following year he contributed with twelve goals this season as part of the series of strikes around Jean Courteaux , Georges Césari and Abdelaziz Ben Tifour to successfully defend the title. He also reached the final of the Coupe de France 1951/52 with the team , in which Andoire, however, bet on the reservists Victor Nurenberg and Luis Carniglia .

Bengtsson moved in the summer of 1952 within France to the second division Toulouse FC . Here, however, he only stayed one season, in which he still distinguished himself as a regular goalscorer. He then moved on to league rivals Stade Rennes . He should help the first division relegated team to return to Division 1 as an attacking spearhead. Although he scored double digits in the two following seasons, the project could not be implemented. In 1955 he ended his active career at the age of 33.
