With Pénichette ( diminutive of Peniche , German  "barge" ) French are houseboats called the classical design of a Peniche, a French barge are modeled.

At the end of the 1970s, Locaboat Plaisance SA developed its own ship model, the so-called Pénichette. Specially designed for houseboat tourism, the Pénichette quickly established itself as the reference among houseboats, both due to its design and its technical properties. Today Locaboat Holidays is one of the market leaders among houseboat rentals without a license. The name Pénichette is a registered trademark .

The Pénichettes have a comparatively low foredeck and a deckhouse in the aft . The boats are available in different sizes and designs, with an additional outside steering position (flying bridge) and a steering position inside. Pénichettes are mainly driven on French rivers and canals . The manufacturer and rental company Locaboat also offers these boats to houseboat vacationers in the Havel - Müritz area, in Holland , Ireland , on the Venetian lagoon and in Masuria .

The Penichettes are canal boats and are excellent for the canals. According to the Locaboat logbook, large areas of water with a wave height of more than 50 cm and BF 3 may no longer be crossed. The boats are therefore only seaworthy according to D (protected waters).

Boat types

The Pénichettes are divided into three categories: Classique (P.935W, P.1107W, P.1106FB), Terrace (P.1120R, P.1260R, P.1500R) and Flying Bridge (P.1020FB, P.1165FB, P .1180FB, P.1400FB, P.1500FB).
