The 14th women's pétanque world championship will take place from October 4th to 6th, 2013 in Montauban in the south of France . It is played in the Triplette formation with a substitute. Each team can therefore consist of up to four women.
At the same time as the Triplet World Championship, the 7th Women's World Championship will take place in the Tir de précision , for which each participating nation may nominate a tireur .
41 nations take part in both competitions. The host France and the reigning world champion Tunisia are allowed to provide two teams in the Triplette, so that 43 teams play for this title.
Both disciplines are organized by the world association FIPJP .
Triplets
43 teams from 41 nations take part in the triplet competition. Each team may replace one player and the substitute player once during a game. After this no more players may be exchanged. Because of the mode , each team has at least six games ahead of them.
Attendees
The list of participating nations was published a good month before the start of the World Cup. As in 2011, fewer than the maximum of 48 teams take part.

Participating players
All teams announced their World Cup line-up no later than two weeks before the start of the tournament.
The DPV , vice world champion in 2004, nominated the following four players for the tournament: Carolin Birkmeyer (VFPS Osterholz-Scharmbeck / Lower Saxony), Susanne Fleckenstein (BC Konstanz / Baden-Württemberg), Muriel Hess (PCB Horb / Baden-Württemberg) and Indra Waldbüßer (BC Stuttgart / Baden-Württemberg).
This means that exactly the same team will start as at the 2011 World Cup. Hess and Waldbüßer also represented Germany at the 2013 World Games .
The defending champions also start in the same line-up as in 2011 as Tunisia B.
The players in italics also take part in the Tireur competition.
mode
As in 2011, the competition will be held in two phases:
Phase 1: - Swiss system
The 32 participants play 5 preliminary rounds according to the Swiss system, at the end of which the 16 best teams remain in the tournament. When determining the ranking positions, first the victories, then the Buchholz points and finally the ball difference are considered. The remaining teams play after the preliminary round in the so-called Coupe de nations, the "B tournament".
During the preliminary round, the game is played with a time limit of 1 hour + 2 recordings .
Phase 2: - KO system
In both the main tournament and the coupe de nations, the players in the final are then sought in the eighth, quarter and semifinals. In the Coupe de nations, a cadrage is played before the round of 16, which reduces the field of participants to 16.
The game is played according to a tree structure , so that the first and second can only meet in the final after the preliminary round.
Time schedule
One day before the official start of the competition, the participants will be welcomed and the first round will be drawn.
A general assembly will be held on Friday morning before the sporting part of the World Cup begins.
The future world champion has to play 9 games in three days, for the 41 participants in precision shooting there are up to five exercises of 20 shots each.
There are two award ceremonies on Saturday (Tir) and on Sunday evening (Triplette), as the end of the title fights, all participants, officials and referees are invited to a gala dinner.

Swiss system
With the same mode as in the 2011 World Cup, all teams were guaranteed 5 games.
After the 5 rounds, the first 16 teams reach the round of 16, while the remaining 27 teams continue to play in the Coupe des nations, the "B-WM".
In the preliminary round there is a time limit (60min. + 2 recordings).
Since 43 teams are participating, one team receives a bye in each round.
Teams that have already played against each other cannot meet again in the preliminary round.
1 round
Germany faced Ukraine in the first round. This game could be won 13: 9, albeit relatively tight.
The top favorites France A and Tunisia B surprisingly lost their games against Canada and the Czech Republic.
In contrast, the record world champions from Thailand, Spain and Madagascar won their games.
Above all, the Australian women’s clear victory against Monaco was surprising.
2nd round
In round 2, Germany achieved a sovereign 13: 3 victory against Team A from Tunisia, which meant that the first day was unbeaten.
The Canadians (after their opening win over France A), Madagascar and Thailand, which also won the second game (against Switzerland) 13-0, as well as the teams France B and Spain were also strong.
On the other hand, the result of the defending champions Tunisia B, who lost their second game against Slovenia and was already about to end, remained weak.
Austria received the bye and was “given” the first victory. Italy barely missed an embarrassment against Japan at 13:12.
3rd round
The third round, which took place on Saturday morning, was drawn on Friday evening after the 2nd round.
Germany met France B and lost clearly in the end with 5:13. Thailand surrendered the first points in the tournament against Belgium, but still won 13: 4.
Spain, Madagascar and Canada also remained unbeaten.
The undefeated Danes lost the high-defeat Italians. Austria lost to Scotland, Switzerland beat Bulgaria to 1.
Defending champion Tunisia B won their first tournament against Russia.
The team from Turkey that won their first victory by bye doesn't have to get up that early.
4th round
In the fourth round, the German team was drawn high and met the unbeaten Canadians. They lost 11:13 and were already under pressure before the last group game.
Madagascar and Spain also remained undefeated. The Africans fought France B 12: 9, Spain dealt with the previously outstanding Thais 13: 1.
Switzerland defeated Poland and took their third win in their fourth game.
Austria conceded a fanny against Tunisia B and was thus eliminated, as was Monaco.
5th round
Germany played against Turkey in round 5 for a place in the round of 16. The important game was won 13: 6 and the knockout round of the World Cup was reached.
After the preliminary round, Spain and Canada surprisingly remained unbeaten.
Both French teams lost their last games and had to worry about the round of 16.
The Netherlands and Sweden were eliminated with only two wins.
Closing table
For the sequence in the final table, the number of wins counts first, then the Buchholz points (BH) , the Feinbuchholz points (FBH) and then the ball difference.
The first 16 teams reach the second round of the World Cup, the teams in positions 17 to 43 continue to play in the Coupe des nations.

Final round
In the second round, Germany met as a preliminary round 14. in Madagascar. In the beginning, the German women held up well against the African top team and the game was open, but in the end the Madagassins prevailed 13: 5. For Germany this meant a ninth place in the total bill.
France A with the multiple World Tire Champion Angelique Papon in the team was eliminated in the round of 16. They lost 5:13 to record world champions Thailand.
After surviving the preliminary round undefeated, Spain surprisingly lost against Belgium with a fiver at 8: 8.
In the quarter-finals, Thailand had to fight Madagascar for a long time before reaching the semifinals for the seventh time in a row at a World Cup. The victory over Belgium gave Cambodia their first medal at a women's World Cup. Canada reached a semi-final again after 19 years, France B remained the last European hope in the tournament after defeating Denmark.
Canada suffered their only defeat at the World Cup in the semi-finals, with a clear 2:13 against hosts France. By defeating Cambodia, Thailand made it into a World Cup final for the seventh time in a row.
For the third time there was the duel between France and Thailand in a World Cup final and for the third time the Asians won. The record world champions won their sixth title with a 13: 7 win. France, the motherland of pétanque, has been waiting for a World Cup triumph in the women's triplet for almost 20 years.
Coupe des nations
Before the round of 16 could begin, the field of 27 eliminated had to be downplayed to 16. There was also a cadrage. The Ukraine team decided not to start, so the drawn opponent Australia qualified for the round of 16.
The dethroned title holder Tunisia B reached the final in the Coupe de Nations, which they lost in a purely North African duel against Morocco.
Australia was able to look forward to one of the greatest successes at a Pétanque World Cup with the semi-finals.
Austria narrowly failed to the Netherlands, who were the only European team to reach the semi-finals, while Switzerland was eliminated in the quarter-finals.
Tir de precision
In the Tir de précision (zD: Precision Shooting ) there is one representative from each nation. Muriel Hess started for Germany. The defending champion Hanta Francine Randriambahiny (Madagascar) is not there. In the preliminary round, all 30 athletes shot a complete round of 20 shots. The first 4 of the preliminary round reached the quarter-finals directly, the Tirure in places 5–21 went into the Repêchage, the second chance in which the best four also qualified for the quarter-finals. From the quarterfinals on, the knockout system, Tireur versus Tireur, continued.
Preliminary round
The best result of the preliminary round was achieved by Sandrine Hurumanu (Tahiti) with 34 points, 15 of which she scored with the last studio, the Sauschuss. Muriel Hess reached the Repêchage in twelfth place with 20 points, as did the Swiss Karin Rudolfs (19). The Austrian Isabella Schimak, on the other hand, was eliminated with seven points.
Repêchage
In the Repêchage, the shooters, who landed in the preliminary round in places 5-21, competed. The first four of this round also qualified for the quarter-finals.
Muriel Hess scored a good 38 points and reached the quarter-finals in second place. Only the Cambodian Leng Ke was better with 46 points.
The three-time world champion Angelique Papon from France was eliminated, as were the other former world champions Yolanda Matarranz (Spain) and Thonsgri Thamakord (Thailand).
With the same number of points, Karin Rudolfs from Switzerland only missed the quarter-finals because of fewer “fives” compared to the Madagascan.
Final round
In the final round, the KO system was used, the first round (V1) against the fourth in the Repêchage (R4), V2 against R3 etc. World champion was the Cambodian Leng Ke, who won the first gold for her home country at the Pétanque World Championships .
Muriel Hess reached the semi-finals after beating the Slovenian Tatjana Seruga, which she just lost to the Tunisian Mouna Beji. Bronze is nevertheless the greatest success of a German female shooter at world championships.
The victory went to Keng Le from Cambodia, who never scored less than 27 points in 5 rounds and achieved the best performance of the tournament with 46.
