Pāvels Surņins (born August 4, 1985 in Liepāja ) is a Latvian football player . The defender has played in the Liepājas Metalurgs shirt since childhood .

Career

Pāvels Surņins was born in Liepāja, a port city on the Baltic Sea, which when he was born belonged to the Latvian SSR of a republic of the Soviet Union. As a child he joined the Liepājas Metalurgs there , where he still plays today. At Metalurgs Surņins made his debut at the age of 20 in the top Latvian league of Virslīga , where he came in his first professional season on seven missions. In the season he also reached the final in the Latvian Cup but lost it against FK Ventspils with 1: 2 after extra time. The following year he came back to the final for Latvijas Kauss and won it 2-1 after extra time. The defender was on the field for the entire 120 minutes.

In 2007 Surņins won the Baltic League with Metalurgs in the final against FK Ventspils, of which he had no good memories from the 2005 cup final. In the first leg of the Olimpiskais Stadium in Ventspils , he only sat on the bench before being substituted on for Andrejs Rubins in the 72nd minute when the score was 2-0 , and in the end it was 3-1. The second leg was very one-sided, the Baltic Club won it 5-1, Surņins came in the 71st minute for Dzintars Zirnis .

In his fifth season in 2009 , he was able to achieve the first goal ever in the league. In the away game on the 3rd matchday at FC Tranzit , he scored the 1-0 winner. This season he was able to mark two more hits, on the 8th matchday against FK Ventspils , and against FK Jūrmala-VV on the 22nd matchday. These were his only goals in the Virslīga to date. In the 2011 season he started with Liepāja with four wins in the first four match days.
