action

The series is about Ryder and the PAW Patrol. The PAW Patrol consists initially of six dogs, called by Ryder fur friends, who help the people in Adventure Bay with their problems in each episode. As the seasons progress, the adventures become more unusual, UFOs keep appearing and supernatural things happen (mega-growth of plants). The dogs of the PAW Patrol each have different equipment in the series. In the course of the seasons, the radius of action extends beyond the Adventure Bay to the Arctic and the jungle, parallel to the PAW Patrol headquarters there is also a mobile control center, the PAW Patroller , a flying control center, the Air Patroller , and a floating control center, the Sea Patroller , to.

Development and production

The series was invented by Ronnen Harary, Anton Rabie and Ben Varadi, the founders and owners of Spin Master Corporation in Toronto, Canada. The three founders were already marketing children's toys during their studies in 1994, and in 2005 they started producing children's series with Bakugan , which were designed around toys. According to Harary, in 2010 he had the idea of using the concept of versatile machines for kindergarten children. Until now, toys of this kind were only offered for six to eleven year olds due to the necessary fine motor skills. After a call to toy inventors around the world, Keith Chapman , the inventor of Bob the Builder, got in touch and suggested the subject of rescue dogs . It was seen as an advantage that dogs could also appeal to girls, while 90% of Bob the Builder is seen by boys.

Children below school age, i.e. from two to six, were defined as the target group. In 2012, Nickelodeon got involved and the rights were distributed. Spin Master holds the television rights to Canada and the worldwide rights to toys, Nickelodeon distributes the series in the US and worldwide, and licenses all non-toy products. The partners each have a percentage of the other's profits. The partners each bear 50% of the production costs of the series.

The characteristic sentences of each character are written so that three-year-olds can learn by repetition and feel part of the plot. The design of the figures was adapted to the requirements of toys. Originally, the individual abilities of dogs in tools were supposed to come from oversized backpacks. The backpacks have been made smaller and optically designed so that they can be opened in toys by small children.

The first broadcast in the USA was on Nickelodeon on August 12, 2013. About six months later, the first toys came on the market, so that a market penetration in children's television had already taken place. According to Spin Master, the TV series is not and should not be profitable. The profits come from the sale of toys and licensed products.

The voice actors are changed regularly, with the male at the latest when they break their voices . Speakers are typically employed for about three hours every two weeks, with an estimated annual salary of about 35,000 Canadian dollars in 2017. The Toronto Globe and Mail concluded:

"Paw Patrol is a television show about young dogs who are never cynical, that is nevertheless devoted to transforming [...] your child into a consumer before he or she can read."

“Paw Patrol is a television series about dogs that are never cynical. But which is still intended to turn your child into a consumer before he or she can read. "

synchronization

As part of the German channel change from Nickelodeon to SuperRTL, the synchronization team was changed. According to SuperRTL, this was justified with the intention of simplifying the language and songs so that young children could be better reached. At the same time, the language implementation should be more tailored to the European culture. "More sympathetic, warmer and more appropriate voices" have been chosen so that children can more clearly distinguish between characters.
