The locomotives of the SŽD series ТГМ3 (German transcription TGM 3) of the Soviet Railways (SŽD) are wide-gauge diesel locomotives with diesel-hydraulic power transmission primarily for shunting and handover trips. They are the further development of the SŽD series ТГМ2 from the Luhansk locomotive factory .

history

After the production of the SŽD series ТГМ2 was handed over to the Ljudinowo diesel locomotive factory , it was then subjected to a thorough overhaul. The revision affected both the external shape and the machine equipment with the revised diesel engine. After building three diesel locomotives of the SŽD series ТГМ2, the factory switched production to the new locomotive, which was then given the designation ТГМ3 . The first five diesel locomotives of this series left the factory in 1959.

From 1961 a modified series was established under the designation ТГМ3A , the main differences to the original variant were the use of the fluid transmission from the Kaluga machine factory instead of the transmission from the Luhansk locomotive factory , which was still used in the ТГМ3 series locomotives .

From 1966 on, another modified series appeared under the designation ТГМ3B , it had a fluid transmission with three converters compared to the previous locomotives . Two more experimental diesel locomotives appeared, one under the designation ТГМ3 M , which had a modified fluid transmission with different flow converters, and the other version under the designation ТГМ3 o with a hydrostatic transmission .

A total of about 4,000 locomotives of the ТГМ3 series and their modifications were delivered between 1959 and 1977 . 1200 of these machines ran on the state railway. Many locomotives also worked on the country's industrial railways. 75 locomotives were exported to Bulgaria , Iran , Turkey , Egypt and China . From 1962 to 1966, two series of diesel locomotives were delivered to Poland as the PKP series SM15 with 27 units. One series came from the Lyudinowo diesel locomotive factory , the other from the Fablok locomotive factory .

technical description

The superstructures, the frames and the bogies were specially reworked for this series of locomotives. A number of elements, e.g. B. the bogies have already been tested on the ТЭ3 diesel locomotive .

The electrical control of the diesel locomotive is intended for the use of the multiple control . The M 751 was selected as the diesel engine , which is a further development of the M 750 of the SŽD series ТГМ2 . Otherwise the assemblies of the locomotive correspond to those of the series SŽD series ТГМ2. In addition to the other fluid transmission, the ТГМ3 M also had the modified M 753 engine , which is essentially similar to the M 751 , only with no turbocharger . In some locomotives, the smaller engine 1 D 12-400 with an output of 294 kW (400 hp), as was also used in the ТГМ1 , was installed during the main inspections .

Another modification was made to the test locomotive ТГМ3B.2000 , in which air suspension was used instead of the conventional spring suspension .
