Pablo Olmedo

Pablo Olmedo ( Pablo Olmedo Castañon ; born May 8, 1975 in Mexico City ) is a Mexican long-distance runner .

Life

From 1996 to 1999 he was four times national champion over 5000 m .

In 1997 he came at the World Cross Country Championships in 111th place and at the World Athletics Championships in Athens over 5000 m in 15th place. The following year he won gold over 5000 m and bronze over 1500 m at the Central America and Caribbean Games .

In 1999 he finished 67th at the Cross Country World Championships and was tenth over 5000 m at the World Championships in Seville . At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000, he was eliminated over 5000 m in the preliminary stages as well as in the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton. In 2002 he won double gold over 5000 m and 10,000 m at the Central American and Caribbean Games , and in 2003 he was fourth over 10,000 m at the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo .

In 2005 he switched to the 42.195 km distance and was twelfth in the Paris Marathon and eleventh in the Chicago Marathon . In 2006 he was fifth in the Lake Biwa Marathon , and in 2007 he was the overall winner of the Maratón de la Comarca Lagunera Mexican champion and came in 46th at the World Championships in Osaka .

At the 2010 Cross Country World Championships in Bydgoszcz, he finished 123rd.
