Paenga is a small settlement in the Tasman District on the South Island of New Zealand .
geography
The settlement is located around 17 km southwest of Murchison on the west bank of the Maruia River . The New Zealand State Highway 65 runs through the settlement and connects it to the north via the New Zealand State Highway 6 with Murchison and around 45 km south with the New Zealand State Highway 7 .
To the west of the settlement rise the northern foothills of the Victoria Range with the Brunner Range behind .
