Page Cavanaugh
Page Cavanaugh (* 26. January 1922 in Cherokee , Kansas ; † 19th December 2008 in Los Angeles ) was an American jazz - and Pop - pianist .
Page Cavanaugh began playing the piano at the age of nine and played in Ernie Williamson's band in 1938 before moving to Los Angeles and working in Bobby Sherwood's band .
During his military service in World War II, he met the guitarist Al Viola and the bassist Lloyd Pratt , with whom he then formed a trio. After the end of the war they performed in the style of the popular Nat King Cole Trio and had a number of hit hits such as "The Three Bears", "Walkin 'My Baby Back Home" and "All of Me" in the late 1940s. The trio also appeared in the films A Song Is Born , Big City , Lullaby of Broadway (with Doris Day ) and in Romance on the High Seas , Doris Day's first film in 1948. They also appeared on Frank Sinatra's radio program Songs by Sinatra and in the Jack Couple Show . Until the 1990s Cavanaugh appeared in nightclubs in the Los Angeles area , both for several years in a trio with viola and in a septet line-up, the Page 7 . Cavanaugh also recorded several albums for MGM , Capitol , RCA and Star Line during his career ; In 2006 the last album of his trio, Return to Elegance was released . He died of kidney failure in late 2008 .
