history

The Palais Kuffner consists of two buildings next to each other, which were built in quick succession, but were given an individual facade. No. 118 was built in the years 1886–1888 and no. 120 in the years 1892/93 for the brewery owner Moritz von Kuffner . The plans come from Franz von Neumann and the builder was Anton Zagorski .

description

No. 118: A high rusticated plinth zone extends almost halfway through the facade. Starting with rectangular, barred basement windows, four axes with arched windows, simple window frames and highlighted keystones lie above a continuous cornice . A round arch portal with volutes , beams, curved arched roofing and the year 1887 is arranged on the side. A convex, segment-arched bay window with Baroque decor emerges from a central projectile extending to the cornice . The main floor is only by the colors - terracotta and white - a strong visual accent. The side double windows are grouped together by graded plastering fields, white window frames with ears, console roofing and baroque lintel fields. Lateral pilaster strips extend to the cornice above the dormer windows , flanked by volutes, rising from the gable roof .

No. 120: This building is remarkable for its vertical tripartite division of the sand-colored facade. The rusticated base is graduated in depth. The middle part is dominated by a large arched window with agraffe . The side windows are narrower and have a triangular gable roof with beautiful wrought iron grilles. A segment arch portal closes the outside. Striving pilaster strips combine the two upper floors. The double windows, surrounded by a stucco frame field, have angled gable roof on the first floor or curved segment gable roof on the floor above. The right part looks like a tower due to its slightly forward position and the two-story bay window, which is reinforced by the tent roof . The central part bears a high roof gable decorated with volutes and vases.
