The Palais des Sports is a sports hall in Grenoble ( France ) that is primarily used for ice hockey . It has a capacity of 12,000 and was opened for the 1968 Winter Olympics .

The Palais de Sports was the venue for the Olympic ice hockey tournament during the 1968 Winter Olympics , and in 1972 and 1981 the European Indoor Athletics Championships also took place in the arena. At the final of the European basketball championship in 1979, a new record number of visitors was set in the stadium with 15,000 spectators. In 1983 the Palais des Sports was again the final venue for this competition, as was the Davis Cup in 1983.
