Palanpur (also Pahlanpur ) was a princely state of British India in the north of what is now the state of Gujarat . Its capital was the place Palanpur . The Yusufzai Lohani dynasty was founded in the 14th century by the Muslim Pashtun Malek Khurram Khan. His descendant Ghazni Khan II was in the service of the Grand Mogul Akbar I as military leader and governor of Lahore . Ghazni Khan II married the milk sister of the Grand Mogul Akbar, received Palanpur as a dowry and the titles Diwan, Mahakhan and Nawab bestowed.

Palanpur was a British protectorate from 1817 to 1947 and in 1921 had an area of ​​4582 km² and 237,000 inhabitants. On June 10, 1948, it was annexed to India and incorporated into the state of Bombay . Since 1960 Palanpur belongs to the state of Gujarat .
