Pallipattu ( Tamil : பள்ளிப்பட்டு Paḷḷippaṭṭu [ paɭiˌpːaʈːɯ ], even Pallipat ) is a city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu with 9,000 inhabitants (2011 census).

Pallipattu is located in the Tiruvallur district in northern Tamil Nadu, around 115 kilometers west of the capital Chennai (Madras), right on the border with the neighboring state of Andhra Pradesh . The city is the capital of the Taluk Pallipattu . The Korttalaiyar River flows through Pallipattu .

During the British colonial period , Pallupattu was part of the Chittoor district of the Madras presidency . After Indian independence, the place came in 1953 together with the Chittoor district to the newly founded state of Andhra (from 1956 Andhra Pradesh) from the Telugu-speaking northern part of the state of Madras . Because of its predominantly Tamil population, Pallipattu, together with Tiruttani, was added to the state of Madras (renamed Tamil Nadu in 1969), which had meanwhile been reorganized according to the language borders of Tamil.

88 percent of Pallippattu's population are Hindus , 9 percent are Muslims and 2 percent are Christians . In addition to Tamil, which is spoken by 60 percent of the population as their mother tongue, Telugu is also widespread. It is spoken by 32 percent of the population. Another 7 percent speak Urdu .
