Paltrock windmill Oppelhain

The technical monument Paltrockwindmühle Oppelhain is located in the Oppelhain district of the Brandenburg municipality of Rückersdorf . It was named after its last owner Neumann-Mühle . In the interior there is a display system with vessels, products and tools from everyday life in the mill. A pitch furnace was built in the Mühlenhof . In the past, these pitch ovens produced the pitch that was needed to lubricate the wooden axles on carts. There is also a petting zoo and a children's playground. In the vicinity of the Paltrock windmill , the 4000 m 2 herb garden, laid out in 1996 and inaugurated by the then Brandenburg Prime Minister Manfred Stolpe , shows the variety of herbs and medicinal herbs found in the Niederlausitzer Heideland nature park . There are several 1:10 scale models of mills in the herb garden.

The mill is open to the public on weekends during the summer months. The rest of the time, it can be viewed by appointment. The Oppelhainer Mühlenmarkt takes place twice a year on a Saturday.

history

The windmill was originally built in Königsberg in Pomerania and moved to Grassau in 1832 . Arthur Neumann bought the mill in 1933 and had it converted into a Paltrock windmill in 1934 by the master builder Albert Schulze from Schönewalde . During the Second World War , a storm in 1941 caused severe damage to the building, which was soon repaired. The local LPG used the mill for animal feed production until 1970 .

In 1997 the municipality of Oppelhain bought the mill. From 1998 the dismantling took place on site and the individual parts were flown to Oppelhain in order to rebuild them at the new location from 2000. It was inaugurated on May 26, 2001 and went into operation.

The older mill history of the place

A watermill and a windmill are mentioned in Oppelhain as early as 1600 and 1630 . According to the inheritance register, both mills belonged together in 1636 and were separated in 1670. In 1771 the watermill is called Sieber, which had a dispute with the Gorden farmers. These had torn down the old weir and flooded the mill and the corridors of several villages. The same thing happened in 1788 and 1789. In the years 1781, 1881 and 1825 the watermill and the windmill are recorded. From 1902 only the water mill was mentioned and from 1938 Martin Müller was named as the owner. In 1987 it was Alfred Spiering. It was operated electrically from 1921 and at last only ground to rubber. The diameter of the millstone was 125 centimeters.
