Panagiotis "Takis" Koroneos ( Greek Παναγιώτης "Τάκης" Κορωναίος , born October 8, 1952 in Rethymno ) is a former Greek basketball player and coach. Having won eleven championships , he and Fragiskos Alvertis are the most successful player in the Greek league after Dimitrios Kokolakis .

Player career

Koroneos began his career at Panathinaikos Athens, where he was under contract until 1985 and in addition to eleven championships, he was also able to win the Greek club cup three times. After a season with PAOK Thessaloniki , he ended his active career with Panionios Athens .

National team

Koroneos made his debut with the Greek national team in a game on July 25, 1972. In a 70-69 victory over Bulgaria , he scored 22 points. In the following nine years he was an integral part of the Greek selection and took part in a total of three European championships. He played his last game on October 29, 1981 in an international match against Poland . His greatest success with the national team was winning the gold medal at the 1979 Mediterranean Championships.

Coaching career

After his active career as a player, Koroneos first took over the coaching position at a number of amateur clubs. His later professional positions include GS Marousi , AO Dafni Athens, Niar Ist and the women's division of Panionios Athens.
